This is a video that we took of a homeowner's gutter system. More specifically, this is the gutter cover that they had in place. Now, this is a very well-known product on the market that gets a lot of advertising. Many people have seen it advertised on TV, they get fliers in the mail, etc. What they don't see is how it functions "in the real world."
As you can see, we turned on a garden hose and simulated a heavy rainfall to show how this gutter protection system would actually handle such a condition. The water should flow down through and into the gutter guard system and into the gutter underneath. But you'll see that doesn't happen.
The problem is the design because it's not able to handle the flow of water. Instead, the water flows over the protection system and onto the ground below, where it can, over a period of time, begin to erode the foundation of the building. Have a look and you be the judge.
